IMW has been transfixed by Sigmund Freud's theory of hysteria since visiting his house and seeing his chair in real life as a teenager. Envisaging herself arched in a contorted pose, often interpreted as embodying the emotional and psychological turmoil associated with hysteria. IMW’s 3d sketch of an "Arch of Hysteria" is noting the concerns within Louise Bourgeois’ 1993 bronze sculpture & explores Freud’s work on "Studies on Hysteria" with Josef Breuer, that posits that physical symptoms arise from repressed traumatic experiences, particularly those related to sexuality, which are then "converted" into physical manifestations.
She places a ‘river’ of her subconscious with units of time & memories flowing from the ‘head’ like a metropolis onto the blank wall of the past & future, also hanging on the wall is a painting she made as a child and atop the plaster bricks she has asked her children to plunge their fingers into clay to create casts of the negative space of their fists.
